Most families have thousands of photographs — and not one recording of the voice they miss most. The stories behind the pictures, the advice given at kitchen tables, the way someone laughs: these are the things families reach for after a loss, and the things we rarely think to record.
A Legacy Session captures them while there's time. We sit down together — in their home, over tea, at their pace — and walk gently through a life: where they began, what shaped them, who they love, and what they want the people after them to know.
Then we edit it with care into a chaptered family archive you keep outright. Not a subscription. Not an app that may vanish. Yours.

How it works
A relaxed visit to get comfortable, learn the names and stories that matter, and plan the conversation together. Nothing is recorded. There's nothing to prepare.
A guided conversation through beginnings, turning points, the people they love, hard-won wisdom — and private messages for future birthdays, weddings, and holidays.
Within two weeks: the complete recording plus an edited keepsake, chaptered and labelled, delivered on a USB archive in person and shared privately online with your family.
What you receive
Every minute of the session, untouched — because one day, even the pauses will matter.
A 25–30 minute "best of" arranged in chapters: their story, told in their voice, ready to share at gatherings.
Private recordings addressed to named people, for named days — a wedding, a graduation, a first Christmas apart.
Your family owns every file outright. We delete our copies after delivery. No subscriptions, no data reuse, no fine print — that promise is in the contract.
Pricing
Additional recording hours $195. Sessions for those in palliative care are scheduled within one week and always take priority — please call directly.
Why this exists
Harbourlight began with a simple observation: we've watched people we care about lose someone and search — through voicemails, old videos, anything — for the sound of a voice. Almost no one has it. Yet capturing it well takes only an afternoon, a good microphone, and someone who knows how to ask.
So that's what we do. One family at a time, in person, with care. No apps, no algorithms, no company standing between your family and their memories — just a well-made recording your family owns outright, delivered in formats built to be kept for generations.
